Chinese currency, like that of many countries, is quite artistic, printed using a multi-color technique. While I did my best to exchange my Chinese currency before exiting the country, I did retain some small denomination bills. The government also issues coins, but scanning them was not successful. Note the picture of Chairman Mao on the 100 Yuan bill.
Front and back of a 1 Jiao bill, equivalent to about one U.S. cent

Front and back of a 2 Jiao bill, equivalent to about two U.S. cents

Front and back of a 5 Jiao bill, equivalent to about six U.S. cents

Front and back of a 100 Yuan bill, equivalent to about twelve U.S. dollars

This drawing was given to me as a gift by Xiao Ling, the artistic, 12 year old daughter of Ly Xia, a friend in Quangzhou. Xiao Ling showed me one of her portfolios, which was filled with pieces reflecting her obvious gift. She hopes to be able to develop and utilize her gift in a career someday.
